The Youth4Climate Initiative
Born in 2021, Youth4Climate transformed into a global initiative in 2022, thanks to the collaboration between the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). Starting from April 2022, the UNDP Center in Rome has assumed the role of secretariat for the initiative.

To date, Youth4Climate has:

  • organized three large, successful international events (in Milan in 2021; in New York in 2022 and in Rome in 2023);
  • launched an innovative financing instrument to implement projects designed and led by young people;
  • helped finance 50 youth-led projects on renewable energy, climate education, urban sustainability, food and agriculture;
  • promoted capacity-building initiatives, with international actors, including the UNFCCC and IRENA, and v) created a global communication system, involving more than 9000 young people, and capable of ensuring active commitment in international forums on the issues of the climate crisis.
