Italian language and culture in Mozambique
The promotion of the Italian language and culture develops along the following lines:
Teaching
The “Giovanni Falcone” private Italian school is active in Maputo, with about a hundred pupils from kindergarten and primary school. The Embassy actively collaborates with the local Dante Alighieri Association which offers PLIDA certified Italian courses and participates in cultural initiatives with a view to synergistic collaboration. Finally, the teaching of Italian is present at the Diocesan Seminary of Pius X and at the São Tomás University as a curricular course.
Cultural events and thematic weeks
Each year the Embassy organizes various cultural events: the Italian Film Festival in May; the Week of the Italian language in October, together with the Dante Alighieri Association; the Italy-Mozambique Jazz Festival also in October; the Week of Italian Cuisine in November in collaboration with the ICE Office – Maputo Agency and with Italian and local operators in the sector; film reviews with Italian films, also as part of the European Film Festival, with the Embassies of the European Union countries in Mozambique.
Scholarships for Mozambican students
The Embassy disseminates information concerning scholarships from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the various study opportunities in Italy offered by public and private universities.
