The Embassy of Italy in Maputo, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), and Televisão de Moçambique (TVM) today, 13 April 2025, renewed their cooperation agreement at the TVM headquarters in Maputo, reaffirming a long-standing commitment to supporting Mozambican public broadcasting.
The signing ceremony was attended by Ambassador Gabriele Annis, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of TVM, Victor Nhatitima, and the Acting Director of the AICS Office in Maputo, Maria Cristina Pescante.
The relationship between Italy and TVM is as old as Mozambican television itself: since its foundation, TVM has benefited from Italian support, with RAI technicians and equipment donated by Italy making it possible to launch television broadcasting in the country. This support has never ceased and continues today, for the third consecutive year, through the media coverage that TVM provides to Italian initiatives in the country.
Furthermore, under the renewed agreement, Italy will provide new technical equipment and offer a technical training programme for TVM professionals, thereby strengthening the capacity of Mozambique’s public broadcaster and contributing to the quality of information in the country.
Through this cooperation, Italy and Mozambique reaffirm their shared commitment to promoting public communication as a tool for development, mutual understanding, and the strengthening of bilateral relations.
