Pemba, 11 September 2026 \u2013 The mission of the Italian System delegation to Cabo Delgado Province, which began on 8 September, concluded today.<\/p>\n
Led by the Ambassador of Italy to Mozambique, Gabriele Annis, the mission brought together the Director of the Maputo Office of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), Fabio Strinati, the President of the Italy-Mozambique Chamber of Commerce (CCMI), Simone Santi, and representatives of several Italian companies operating in the Province. The mission aimed to strengthen dialogue with local institutions and provide renewed impetus to Italy\u2019s contribution to the economic and social development of Cabo Delgado.<\/p>\n
During the mission, the delegation carried out an intensive programme of institutional meetings, visits to local projects and initiatives, and exchanges with the private sector and the media.<\/p>\n
On the afternoon of 9 September, Ambassador Annis visited the local studios of TVM, Mozambique\u2019s national public broadcaster. During the meeting, the Ambassador recalled the longstanding ties between the Italian public broadcaster and TVM, dating back to the early years of the latter, whose development was also supported by the contribution of RAI technicians. This long-standing cooperation will soon be strengthened through the donation by RAI of equipment for TVM facilities in Maputo and Pemba.<\/p>\n
The dialogue with local media continued the following day with a visit to the JOS television station, where the Ambassador presented the numerous activities promoted by Italy in the Province in the fields of development cooperation, training and economic development.<\/p>\n
The delegation also visited the facilities of the Sisters of Jesus the Good Shepherd, which are committed to welcoming and supporting children and young people, providing them with assistance and new opportunities. The visit offered an opportunity to learn more about the work carried out by the religious community and the needs of those benefiting from its activities. On this occasion, the Embassy of Italy and Inalca Mozambique contributed to the Sisters\u2019 activities through a donation of sports equipment for the children.<\/p>\n
The mission concluded today with Ambassador Annis\u2019 visit to the port terminal built by Renco in Pemba, which was also attended by the Secretary of State of Cabo Delgado Province, Pl\u00e1cido Nerino Pereira, and the Mayor of Pemba, Satar Abdulgani.<\/p>\n
The visit provided an opportunity to highlight the role of the Italian private sector in the Province\u2019s development process, as well as the growing interest of Italian companies in the opportunities offered by Cabo Delgado.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe established presence of an Italian company such as Renco in the Province demonstrates the confidence our companies have in the great potential of this region of Mozambique, which is strategic to our interests, as well as their ability to seize the opportunities arising from the launch of major energy projects,\u201d said Ambassador Annis.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are pleased with this presence and want to contribute to expanding it further, working together with all national and international stakeholders.
