The MAECI supports the international mobility of researchers, teachers and experts through contributions intended to finance research missions and cultural cooperation.<\/p>\n
Researchers, teachers, experts, personalities and cultural operators, both Italian and foreign nationals resident in Italy for at least two years, invited by foreign universities or cultural institutions for reasons of study or research, as well as foreign or Italian experts resident abroad invited by Italian universities and cultural institutions in order to promote their collaborations and joint research programs, may request the contribution.<\/p>\n
The contributions partially cover travel and accommodation expenses up to a maximum of 3,000 euros for a period not exceeding 10 days of actual activity. The amount varies according to destination: for stays of up to 5 days, a contribution of 250 euros per day is provided in non-strategic Countries (and 50 euros per day from the sixth to the tenth day), while for strategic areas such as Asia, Africa (excluding the MENA area) and the Americas the contribution is 350 euros per day for the first 5 days and 250 euros per day from the sixth to the tenth day, up to a maximum of 3,000 euros. It is important to note that only reimbursements for economy class travel are admitted and that the foreign invitation cannot be tied to the disbursement of the contribution by the MAECI.<\/p>\n
It is essential to have an official invitation from a recognized university or cultural institution, preferably within the framework of bilateral cultural cooperation agreements. For Italian candidates, the invitation must come from a foreign institution; for foreign candidates or Italian nationals resident abroad, the invitation must be issued by an Italian institution. For purposes of counting the duration, only days of actual engagement in cultural and\/or research activities are included.<\/p>\n
Applications must be sent to culturale.maputo@esteri.it<\/a> by July 31, 2026 with a copy to dgce06.missioni@esteri.it<\/a>, using the application form available in the attachment<\/a>. The request must be accompanied by the documentation specified in the call. Eligible activities must take place between January 1 and November 15, 2026. It is noted that it will not be possible to provide contributions for missions beyond this date.<\/p>\n In evaluating the requests, consideration will be given to the candidate’s curriculum vitae, the potential impact of the mission in terms of development of cultural or scientific projects and partnerships between Italian and foreign institutions, the prestige of the institutions involved, the principle of rotation among beneficiaries, the compliance of the mission with the geographical and thematic priorities of the General Directorate, and the existence of an executive program of cultural cooperation in force between Italy and the country of destination.<\/p>\n Within ten days of the conclusion of the mission, beneficiaries must submit to the Headquarters and the Office the following documents for disbursement of the contribution: travel documents (airline tickets, boarding cards), certificate of stay issued by the host entity and final report on the activities carried out.<\/p>\n Contributions intended for foreign beneficiaries will be disbursed through the foreign Headquarters that received the application. Italian beneficiaries will receive the contribution directly from the Office. Requests are examined in order of receipt according to the evaluation criteria indicated, taking into account available resources. Allocation will occur in any case until available funds are exhausted.<\/p>\n
